Acorn’s Mega Structure evolved from the former Super Structure that in 2016 was awarded NASC Product Innovation Award.
One of the largest clear span structures erected in the UK
Quick to both build and de-rig, the Mega Structure has a width of around 70 metres with a trim height of 20 metres plus. Length of a Mega Structure is modular which means it can be built from as short as 20 metres and expand to a length that fits with our client’s needs.
Suitable for Film and TV Studios, Festivals and Concerts, Exhibitions & Parties, Sporting Events as well as Arts and Theatre, the Acorn Mega Structure is a large versatile temporary structure that can be built on green field or hard standing. Uneven ground can be accommodated through extension of the structure.
Further integral capabilities can be added as part of the Mega Structure package including, though not limited to, Layher stage platforms, VIP gantries and set support structures to enhance the user experience. For Film and TV production, though once again not exclusively, sound proofing and thermal insulation, large roller shutter doors and smaller pedestrian access platforms as well as ramps.
From an environmental aspect the Mega Structure is flat packed for transportation reducing haulage requirement.
In addition, as it is a temporary installation, the Mega Structure is more than 90% re-usable in other aspects of work Acorn carry out.
Examples of the Mega Structure installation are Creamfields, who brand this temporary structure the Steel Yard and have used the installation in a number of different locations since 2016, the Pope’s visit to Dublin in 2019 and the Massive Attack Concert, Bristol in March 2019. Film and TV studios have been created for ITV Studios at Bovingdon and Troubadour Theatres at Meridian Water Studios, Enfield.
