Ground Levelling Platforms
Ground levelling platforms offer solutions for temporary structures that need to be erected on uneven or sloping ground. Alternatively, they can provide raised elevation for spectators at a variety of both indoor and outdoor sporting events. Acorn’s in-house design team produce drawings that ensure the client has an accurate understanding of not only shape but also load capability. One of the largest ground levelling platform installations carried out annually by Acorn is 35,000 sq metres of deck in Regents Park, London for the Frieze Art Fair and Frieze Masters. Ascot Racecourse, the Affordable Art Fair, RHS Chelsea Flower Show as well as a variety of ice rinks around the UK are just a small example of ground levelling platforms Acorn provide for their ever-growing client base. From steel deck that accommodates marquee cassette flooring to bespoke decking deck, Acorn provides a variety of platform flooring finishes that includes phenolic anti slip plywood.
Accessible Viewing Platforms
To make events accessible for the disabled and the hearing impaired it is often necessary to provide accessible viewing platforms for events and occasions. Acorn Structures‘ in-house team have a vast knowledge of legislation and requirements needed for such platforms and help their clients maximise the audience experience for everyone in the crowd. Accessible viewing platforms supplied by Acorn are finished in anti-slip plywood for additional safety.
Camera & Media Platforms
Camera and media platforms are available from Acorn Structures in a range of sizes to suit all locations and event types in both permanent and temporary locations. Acorn supplies clients with camera and media platforms in differing height discrepancies suitable for all ground types and load bearing capacities, from small single camera structures to vast multi-media platforms for mass camera crew hosting. Camera and media platforms are finished in heavy duty deck with a plywood anti-slip covering. Ladder or stair access is available with all platforms along with a range of handrail choices to fit all client requirements.
Acorn have provided camera and media platforms at sporting events such as Olympic 2012, Commonwealth Games 2014 and 2022, annual Golf competitions and prestigious ceremonies and occasions.

Because of this Acorn Structures have a reputation as thought leaders in the temporary structures and staging industry across the United Kingdom and beyond. Acorn has an in-house design and build team with an extensive industry and product knowledge who work closely with clients to ensure end-user satisfaction is met no matter how small, large, simple or complex the structure required.
Working with clients in multiple sectors, Acorn has provided everything from complete studio complexes to help with the shortage of UK studio space for the film and TV industry to small gantries for starting lines at sporting events. The variety of staging structures provided by Acorn from the Mega Structure to the Midi Stage have helped to create spectacular focal points for a wealth of festivals and concerts. Many high-profile festivals feature not one but multiple stages supplied and installed by Acorn.
Often the temporary structures Acorn provide are not visible but without the sub-structures Acorn specialise in the main structure would not be possible. Ground levelling platforms for marquees to house leading exhibitions and ice rinks that are the focal point of Winter festivals are an example of this type of Acorn work.
At the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 the focus of the opening ceremony was a giant screen that lit up the stadium. The screen support for that screen was designed and built by Acorn Structures.
